Political & Religious difference is a common reason for conflicts due to different believes. Subtle and innate, such differences also spark the strongest reactions as it tangles with peoples' heartstrings.
The conflict of self interest is also something that we have struggled with internally througout our lives. From our adolescence until adulthood, self identity is a lifelong quest for all.
Society is no less gentler as it will seek to convert any anomalies that differ from social norms. And in worst case scenerios, destroy them completely.
At the end, all our efforts will only meet the same end of oppression. For humans fear the unkown. Lest shall the brave and foolish alike, rise above the rest and lead the world towards the light.
